The HTC Magic is HTC’s second Android-powered mobile phone after the T-Mobile G1/HTC Dream. Looks like Vodafone have snapped up exclusive rights to the HTC Magic in the UK, Spain, Germany and in France.

Perhaps best described as the G1 without a QWERTY keyboard, this handset has a 3.2″ 320 x 480 pixel touch-sensitive display, a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, GPS, WiFi and 3.5G support. HTC Magic for sure is lot prettier that T-Mobile’s G1. Below are the main specs.

Processor: Qualcomm® MSM7201a™, 528 MHz
Operating System: Android
Memory ROM: 512 MB
RAM: 192 MB

Dimensions: 113 x 55 x 13.65 mm ( 4.45 x 2.17 x 0.54 inches)
Weight: 118.5 grams ( 4.18 ounces) with battery
Display: 3.2-inch TFT-LCD flat touch-sensitive screen
Screen resolution: 320×480 HVGA
Network: HSDPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz, Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Device Control: Trackball with Enter button
GPS: Internal GPS antenna

Connectivity: Bluetooth® 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rate
Wi-Fi®: IEEE 802.11 b/g
HTC ExtUSB™ (11-pin mini-USB 2.0 and audio jack in one)

Camera: 3.2 megapixel color camera with auto focus
Audio formats: AAC, AAC+, AMR-NB, MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC-LC, MIDI, OGG
Video formats: MP4, 3GP

Battery: Lithium-ion battery
Capacity: 1340 mAh
Expansion slot: microSD™ memory card (SD 2.0 compatible)

The controls on the HTC Magic are minimal, other than the touchscreen display there is a trackball and some basic control buttons, and that’s it. Everything else is done through the touchscreen.

HTC launched three new phones recently – HTC Touch HD, Touch 3G and Touch Viva. The priciest of the three, and probably one of the priciest of all available phones, is the HTC Touch HD.

The HTC Touch HD has a 3.8-inch, 480×800 screen, plus other fancy specs such as a 5-megapixel camera, 288MB RAM and a Quallcomm MSM7201a 528MHz processor. All these hardware comes together to bring a nice and smooth feel to TouchFLO that’s faster than the Touch Diamond, Touch Pro and even the Touch 3G. No glitches or hiccups when scrolling horizontally through the menus.

Anyway, inputting text with the onscreen keyboard wasn’t as good as the iPhone’s, but was still OK simply because of the huge screen.

That 3.8-inch screen is excellent. The HD will be a pretty good competitor to full screen touchscreen phones such as the Instinct and Sony Ericsson Experia.

Meanwhile, HTC Touch 3G is slightly taller and thinner than its predecessor – the original HTC Touch. The main improvements of the 3G version include a 3.2 megapixel fixed-focus camera, 3G with HSDPA, as well as 192 MB of RAM. HTC Touch 3G also features the newest version of the TouchFLO UI – the TouchFLO 3D and GPS (with A-GPS support).

The quad-band HTC Touch 3G has a 2.8-inch display of QVGA resolution and runs on a 528 MHz Qualcomm CPU. It also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB and a microSD card slot.

The HTC Touch Viva which is mainly for developing markets, is also pretty cool. It runs on a 2D version of TouchFLO that’s amazingly fast, but keeps all the functionality of the original HTC Touch intact.

Looking like a simplified version of the TouchFLO 3D this interface is probably suited for working on PocketPCs with lower resolution screens and not so powerful CPUs.

The iPhone has dominated the smartphone landscape for more than a year. But now, Apple is about to meet a challenger in Google that could halt — or slow — its progress.

The T-Mobile G1 is the first smartphone to use the Android platform announced last year by Google and a number of other partners. Based on Linux, Android is an open source project that has hundreds of developers who work on different applications any phone utilizing Android can use.

T-Mobile and Google have partnered to bring us the Andriod handset, but the G1 integrates Google’s online services into the operation of the handset, which will probably pose a direct challenge to both Windows Smartphones and the Apple iPhone.

The G1 is being made by HTC, who has a long history in the market of Windows Mobile devices and has had partnerships with T-Mobile and several other carriers.

The G1 is very similar to a typical Windows smartphone in terms of specification – there’s a large 3.2″ 320 x 480 pixel touchscreen display, a 3.2 megapixel fixed-focus camera, 3G and 3.5G support, WiFi, GPS (plus a digital compass), microSD expandable memory, Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0 connectivity.

The main functions are controlled with a trackball (a little like modern BlackBerry devices), plus there’s a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Annoyingly, the T-Mobile G1 has one of HTC’s combined USB/audio sockets which means that you cannot use a standard headset without an adaptor. It’s quite a heavy device at 158 grams.

The processing power of the G1 clocks in at 528Mhz and features a Qualcomm MSM7201A which has 192MB of RAM. This specification is very similar to HTC’s other Windows devices.

The G1 also support GPRS and EDGE data, and has both 802.11 b and g WiFi. The expected maximum talk time on 3G is around the 6 hour mark and has a whopping 16 day stand by time, partly due to the large 1150 mAh battery.

HTC announced the Touch Diamond, the latest in a number of phones that are taking aim directly at the iPhone. The device has some pretty nice interface technology that they’re calling TouchFLO 3D that emphasizes one-touch browsing and single-finger dialing.

They emphasized web accessibility, zoom-in navigation with “just one hand” and not too many fingers. The quad-band smartphone runs Windows Mobile 6.1 and has integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, and HSDPA support.

Featuring a sharp 2.8-inch, 680×480 VGA touch screen housed within a stunning formation of brushed steel and flawless faceted edges, the HTC Touch Diamond is as beautiful to behold as it is to use. It does include a front-mounted camera for video conferencing, which has been a rumored feature of the next generation iPhone.

With HTC’s vibrant touch-responsive user interface, TouchFLO™ 3D, and ultra-fast HSDPA internet connectivity, the HTC Touch Diamond offers a rich online experience to rival a notebook computer, allowing you to interact with Google, YouTube, and Wikipedia as freely as you would with a broadband connection.

A 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera will help you capture the perfect moment in style and with a massive 4GB of internal storage you can keep all the files you need. The integrated ultra-sensitive GPS will help you find your destination as quickly and efficiently as a dedicated satellite navigation unit. Other goodies include a 256MB flash memory, and 192MB RAM.

HTC is a established company which is a player in the smartphone market for 10 years, is known for providing and offering a wide range of devides. It is now widely considered to be the market leader when it comes to Windows Mobile handsets with broad variety of designs.

We can say It has done petite and powerful, and even gone above and beyond traditional smart phones, with the introduction of the HTC Shift and HTC Advantage. And now they introduce the world their latest creation and design — the HTC Touch which is really petite at 3.9 inches long by 2.3 inches wide by 0.5 inch thick and weighing 3.9 ounces.

Instead of supply the Touch with a standard Windows Mobile implementation, they’ve chosen to do something a little different. Known formerly as the Elf, the Touch features Windows Mobile 6 and a technology called TouchFLO with a 2.8 inches, 65,536 color, 240×320 pixel finger-touch display.

Using a technology TouchFLO™, HTC have made the Touch very much easier to control with a finger rather than a stylus. The Touch automatically distinguished between a stylus and a finger. Like the iPhone, the motions are preprogrammed to perform certain actions. For example, you can use your fingers to navigate the phone’s menus, swiping your thumb in an upward motion lauches a page where you can access contacts, applications or media. You can close out of applications by swiping downward.

HTC Touch is a tri-band 900/1800/1900 MHz GSM device with GPRS, EDGE, 802.11 b/g WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. It runs Window Mobile 6 Professional Edition and it support for push e-mail. It also features 128MB ROM or 64MB RAM, and there is a 1GB microSD card in the standard sales package. It’s also equipped with a 2-megapixel camera and is rated for 5 hours of talk time and up to 8 days of standby time.
