Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000

With an aim of reducing the risk of repetitive strain injury (RSI), Microsoft has introduced their Natural line of ergonomic hardware. After releasing their natural keyboards, Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 and Comfort Curve Keyboard 2000, it’s about time that Microsoft released a mouse. Microsoft’s latest take on the mouse is Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000.
Microsoft’s first “Natural” entry into mice differs greatly from traditional mice, and even from other right handed mice including Microsoft’s own IntelliMouse Explorer and Logitech’s MX line of high end mice such as the MX Revolution. This mouse has a unique tall design to keep your wrist off the table entirely with thumb scoop and conforms to the hand the way that the hand wants to be conformed to. Additionally, a near 45° angle keeps the angle of your wrist in a more natural position.
The 4 programmable button mouse plus vertical and horizontal scroll wheel make for flexible functionality that can give the user quick access to frequently used commands. Smooth cursor flow and outstanding response and performance are immediately noticed. Programmable buttons can enable a user to configure the mouse to any particular taste or style (see page 3). Features such as 4-way tilt wheel technology, multifunction buttons, superb handling, multicolor battery indicator, and nice color scheme make this mouse a great performer.
Too many open items on your desktop? By default, the middle click of the mouse has been re-mapped to a new feature known as Instant Viewer. As soon as Instant Viewer has been activated, a grid of thumbnails for each window (minimized or open) on all monitors is presented before the user. Click the scroll wheel button to instantly display your open windows, then point and click to select.
Another interesting feature is “Magnify”, which brings up a rectangle that can be adjusted both in size and the depth of zoom. This is a great feature for those with poor eyesight. The Magnifier tool enlarges any section of the screen, enabling real-time magnified viewing and editing of images, documents, Web sites and more. Users can simply push the Magnifier button and move the cursor over any portion of the screen they want to enlarge.

Performance of Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 (pick from Hardware Pacers)
The Natural Wireless Laser Mouse has remarkable cursor performance. Cursor movement is fluid and smooth. 1000 dpi resolution coupled with 6000 frames per second ensures that the mouse will capture 1000 pixels in an inch of movement and it will relay that information 6000 times per second. This simply means if a user moves the mouse 1 inch in a 1 second time frame, the mouse will receive 6000 instances of where the mouse is positioned; that position is accurate to 1/1000 of an inch. This all relates to smooth cursor control and extremely accurate jerk-free cursor movement.
With a CMOS chip that is less than 18 microns, Microsoft has managed to create a product that uses a chip less than half the size of most competitors resulting in smaller size and less power usage; this will give users optimum battery life out of the Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000.
