LG VX8300

LG’s third EV-DO cell phone for Verizon wireless, LG VX8300 is target to improve on some of the drawbacks on previous model VX8100. With similar design and offering a comparable range of high-end features as its predecessor, the LG VX8300 provides improved functionality and slightly better performance.
The VX8300 offers a more conservative look, wrapped a more fashionable gray color if compared to earlier model VX8100 which comes with toy-like blue color. At 91 x 48 x 25 mm and 111g, the VX8300 is slightly smaller and lighter than its predecessor.
The 1.2-inch 65K-color external screen is smaller than the VX8100′s. It shows the date, time, battery life, signal strength, battery life, photo caller ID, and acts as a viewfinder for self-portraits.
At the bottom of the external screen are the external music controls, which are very useful and above it are the camera lens and the smaller and relocated camera flash. The LG VX8300 supports both Verizon’s V Cast and the V Cast Music. You can access the music player when the phone is closed using the handy and well-designed external music controls.
The VX8300′s 1.3-megapixel CMOS camera is quite average if compared to other’s cell phones with 2.0 or 3.2 megapixels camera. You can capture photos up to 1280 x 960 px in resolutions, and only about 60 photos can be stored at the this quality. To store more photos you can choose lower resolutions such as 640 x 480, 320 x 240, 176 x 144, and 160 x 120 pixels.

You can easily adjust the Brightness and Digital Zoom using the 5-Way Keypad. The VX8300 includes filter and color correction tools such as White Balance, Color Effects, Self-Timer (3, 5, and 10 seconds), Night Mode, and Flash.
The LG VX8300 has a 500 contact phone book with each entry for 5 phone numbers and two e-mail addresses. You can organize callers into groups, pair them with an image for picture caller ID, and assign them on of 11 polyphonic (32-chord) ring tones and four message tones.
Other features include a vibrate mode, a duplex speakerphone, multimedia and text messaging, MSN and Yahoo instant messaging, call recording, a tip calculator, a notepad, an alarm clock, a world clock, a calendar with a scheduler, and voice memos, commands, and dialing.
The VX8300 gives users the ability to not only change the menu colors, but also adjust the entire home screen and menu layout with themes.
The LG VX8300 has integrated Bluetooth v1.1 and supports Bluetooth Headset, Hands-free, serial port, object push and dial-up networking (DUN) profiles. The Bluetooth software can store up to 20 pairing partners and can connect to one Bluetooth device at a time.
Reviews from CNET Reviews
The good: The LG VX8300 has an attractive design, solid audio and video quality, and a full range of high-end features.
The bad: The LG VX8300′s Bluetooth feature does not support file transfers.
The bottom line: The LG V8300 is a well-designed and high-performing EV-DO phone for Verizon Wireless.
Reviews from MobileTechReview
The good: Slimmer clamshell body, 1.3 megapixel takes very good photos and records nice videos. Both internal and external screens are bright with good color balance. The stereo speakers are good and stereo headset output is great! V Cast support creates enormous opportunity for the LG to entertain with video, music, news and more. Great standby time.
The bad: Not much data usability outside the Verizon Web portal, WAP sites and the V Cast content (many popular web sites get out of memory errors, though the browser does manage to load the page or most of it). You need to buy additional kit to get the stereo headsets, music ripping CD and the USB cable.
