Nokia 2680 slide and Nokia 1680 classic

Besides the Nokia 5000, Nokia introduced the new Nokia 2680 slide and Nokia 1680 classic handsets for emerging markets on 2 April 2008. these two handsets are targeted at consumers who are looking for a good value phone that still has plenty of useful features, while looking smart at the same time.

Nokia 2680 Slide

A common feature the four new phones have, besides being affordable, is the fact that they all come with support for dual-band GSM networks (either 900/1800 MHz or 850/1900 MHz), hence they can work almost anywhere in the world, since GSM is the global standard for mobile networks.

Features of the Nokia 2680 slide include an FM radio with recording capability, MP3 ringtones, and a VGA resolution camera. Despite being quite cheap, the 2680 Slide still comes with Bluetooth, FM radio, email client and web browser. The display is a basic 128 x 160 pixel panel, and talktime is slightly over 3 hours.

The Nokia 2680 slide is expected to begin shipping in the third quarter of 2008 with an estimated retail price of EUR 75 (~$117) before subsidies and taxes.

Nokia 1680 Classic

Nokia 1680 Classic is a candy bar that comes as the cheapest Nokia camera phone. The Nokia 1680 classic is Nokia’s most affordable cameraphone to date.

Nokia 1680 Classic features a very basic VGA camera that can’t offer good quality photos, but at least you can take occasional snapshots when there’s no better device near at hand. Besides ,1680 Classic also packs a TFT 128 x 160 pixels screen with support for 65K colors, email and Instant Messaging (but no Web browser), Java MIDP 2.0, English-Chinese dictionary and a Li-Ion 700 mAh battery said to offer more than 7 hours of talk-time and up to 424 hours of stand-by time.
