Sony Ericsson W880i
Sony Ericsson have finally announced the W880i (codenamed ‘Ai’) Walkman handset, after months of speculation and now Sony Ericsson have revealed the full technical details of this new “Walkman” phone.

The Sony Ericsson W880i is a super-slim and exceptionally light 3G phone at just 9.4mm thin and an astonishing 72 grams in weight. It combines the full Walkman® phone experience with a device that fits easily into your pocket. The stainless steel finish which is available in black or silver on the W880i gives it a touch of class, while the orange hints to the W880i’s fun side: the Multimedia functionality.

The W880i has a 1.8″ TFT panel with resolution of 240×320 pixel in 262,000 colour. The 1GB Memory Stick Microâ„¢ (M2â„¢) included in the box allows to store up to 900 full length tracks, whilst the host of innovative music applications such as Walkman® Player 2.0 & Disc2Phone make it easy to get music onto your phone in the first place & search through play lists once its there. The W880i has a 2 megapixel primary camera with a secondary camera for video calls.

With a single charge of the battery, the handset can achieve up to 18 hours of music listening time. There is also a flight mode to allow you to use the phone’s Walkman capabilities in areas where phone use is prohibited.

Besides, there is a web browser, speakerphone, RSS newsreader, email client with push capabilities, video streaming, Picture blogging, PictBridge and a comprehensive multimedia player.

The W880i is a UMTS 2100 MHz 3G phone with tri-band 900/1800/1900 MHz GSM. Unfortunately, the W880i doesn’t have an FM radio like some other “Walkman” phones and it also doesn’t have EDGE support.

Just got the phone a day ago. It is amazingly slim and light. great to carry around. the walkman feature is great. although creating a playlist is a little too time consuming.
I must say though I’m a little disappointed with the camera. wish it had flash, and you can’t zoom in when taking a photograph, unless your in panoramic mode. I’m also missing the fm radio too.
I may be asking for too much. but all in all its a good phone, could have a few extra features, depends if you’re only into music then its great, but if you’re into music (including the radio) and taking pictures, it may not be the best choice.

Cheers and have a nice day. Should you want to suggest a topic, please feel free to let us know.
